Ronald Reckner Obituary May 21, 2026 | Lancaster, PA

Ronald Reckner, 74, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Ronald Reckner, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and respected member of the Lancaster community, entered into eternal rest on May 21, 2026, surrounded by his family. Known for his strong work ethic, gentle humor, integrity, and unwavering faith, Ronald lived a life of quiet leadership, hard work, and deep devotion to his family and community. He will be remembered as a steady, kind man who always put others before himself.

A Life Well Lived

Ronald James Reckner was born on April 12, 1952, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He grew up in a hardworking farming family in the heart of Amish country, where he learned the values of honesty, perseverance, and respect for others. After graduating from Manheim Township High School in 1970, Ronald attended Penn State University, earning a degree in Business Administration.

He built a successful career in manufacturing and logistics, working for more than 38 years with a major company in the Lancaster area. Ronald advanced to the position of plant operations manager, where he was admired for his fair leadership, problem-solving skills, and ability to mentor younger employees. He retired in 2018 but remained active in local business networking groups and enjoyed helping friends and neighbors with projects around their homes.

Ronald was a longtime faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lancaster, where he served on the church council and volunteered with the men’s ministry. He loved fishing in the Susquehanna River, gardening, restoring antique furniture, and cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies. Family camping trips, holiday gatherings, and weekend barbecues were among the highlights of his life. He took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren practical skills and the importance of faith and family.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Ann (Miller) Reckner of Lancaster; his children: son David (Melissa) Reckner of Reading, Pennsylvania, and daughter Jennifer (Mark) Thompson of York, Pennsylvania; his cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, and Ethan Reckner, and Abigail and Jackson Thompson; and many dear siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Reckner, and his brother, Richard Reckner.

A Heartfelt Tribute

Ronald Reckner was a man of quiet strength and steadfast love. He never sought attention or praise, yet his presence was the foundation his family depended upon. As a husband, he was loyal and supportive. As a father and grandfather, he was patient, encouraging, and always ready to share a story or a helpful lesson. He taught those around him the value of hard work, keeping your promises, and living with integrity.

Whether repairing a piece of furniture in his workshop, fishing with his grandchildren, or offering wise counsel during difficult times, Ronald showed what it means to live with purpose and presence. He cherished his marriage to Barbara, his Lutheran faith, and the simple joys of life in Pennsylvania — beautiful changing seasons, family dinners, and time spent with the people he loved most.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing Ronald has gone home to his Heavenly Father, reunited with loved ones who went before him. His legacy of faith, family, and faithful service will continue to guide and inspire his loved ones for generations to come.
