Life & Career
Born on June 12, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, Richard Alan Wyatt grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and a curious mind. From an early age, he displayed a remarkable work ethic and a genuine interest in helping others. After graduating from Central High School, he went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Margaret.
Richard built a distinguished 42-year career as a mechanical engineer and project manager at Midwest Manufacturing Solutions. Colleagues often described him as the steady hand who could solve the most complex technical challenges while maintaining a calm and encouraging demeanor. He was known for mentoring young engineers, always willing to share his knowledge and offer guidance with patience and generosity.
Beyond his professional achievements, Richard was a devoted community member. He volunteered for over 25 years with Habitat for Humanity, helped coach youth baseball teams, and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Springfield. His quiet acts of service—whether repairing a neighbor’s roof, organizing food drives, or simply listening to someone in need—left an indelible mark on his community.
Richard had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing trips with his sons, weekend hikes in the Ozarks, and tending to his beloved vegetable garden. He was an avid reader of history books and could often be found on the porch in the evenings, sharing stories from his life with grandchildren gathered around him.
