Robert “Bob” Dwayne Montanye, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and respected member of the Omaha community, entered into eternal rest on May 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his strong work ethic, friendly smile, quick wit, and generous spirit, Bob lived a life of integrity, faith, and deep commitment to his family and friends. He will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and always made time to help others.
A Life Well Lived
Robert Dwayne Montanye was born on June 3, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska. He grew up in a hardworking family and developed a strong sense of responsibility and kindness from an early age. After graduating from Omaha North High School in 1966, Bob proudly served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971. His years of service taught him discipline, teamwork, and the importance of duty.
Following his honorable discharge, Bob built a successful career in the construction and building trades. For more than 40 years, he worked as a master carpenter and later as a project supervisor for several respected Omaha-area companies. Colleagues and clients admired his attention to detail, honesty, and ability to solve problems with calm confidence. He retired in 2014 but continued helping friends and family with home improvement projects, always happy to lend his tools and expertise.
Bob was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church in Omaha, where he served on the building committee and volunteered with the men’s ministry. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Manawa, coaching his children’s baseball teams, restoring vintage cars in his garage, and cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Family cookouts, weekend fishing trips, and holiday gatherings were among his greatest joys.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Susan Marie (Thompson) Montanye of Omaha; his children: son Michael (Jennifer) Montanye of Lincoln, Nebraska, and daughter Sarah (Mark) Reynolds of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, and Ethan Montanye, and Abigail and Jackson Reynolds; and many dear siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

A Heartfelt Tribute
Robert “Bob” Dwayne Montanye was a man of quiet strength and steadfast love. He never sought attention or praise, yet his presence was deeply felt by everyone who knew him. As a husband, he was loyal and supportive. As a father and grandfather, he was patient, encouraging, and always ready with a story, a helpful hand, or a corny joke that made everyone smile. He taught his family the importance of hard work, keeping your promises, and treating people with respect.
Bob faced life with resilience and good humor. Whether building something with his hands, fishing early in the morning, or simply sitting on the porch with family, he created lasting memories rooted in care and presence. He cherished his marriage to Susan, his faith in God, and the simple joys of life in Nebraska — family dinners, Sunday mornings, and time spent with the people he loved most.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing Bob has gone home to his Heavenly Father, reunited with loved ones who preceded him. His legacy of faith, family, and integrity will continue to guide and inspire his loved ones for generations to come.
