Life & Career
Born on July 8, 1941, in Asheville, North Carolina, Patricia Ann Jones was the daughter of hardworking parents who taught her the values of faith, compassion, and perseverance. She grew up in a close-knit family and graduated from Asheville High School before attending the University of Tennessee, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.
Patricia dedicated 32 years to teaching as a beloved elementary school teacher in the Knox County School System. Generations of students remember her patience, encouragement, and ability to make learning fun. She had a special gift for connecting with children, especially those who needed extra support, and many former students stayed in touch with her throughout their lives. After retiring in 2003, she remained active in education through volunteer tutoring and mentoring new teachers.
A woman of deep faith, Patricia was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville. She served in the women’s ministry, sang in the choir, taught Vacation Bible School, and organized countless community outreach programs. She was also known for her beautiful flower gardens, delicious Southern cooking, and handmade quilts that she lovingly gifted to family and friends.
Patricia found joy in simple pleasures — reading her Bible each morning, spending time with family, traveling with her husband, and cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers. Her gentle humor and caring nature made her a beloved neighbor and trusted confidante.
