Mr. Anthony Lucas, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and respected member of the Chicago community, entered into eternal rest on May 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his strong work ethic, warm personality, integrity, and generous spirit, Anthony lived a life of purpose, faith, and deep commitment to his family and community. He will be remembered as a man who led with quiet strength and loved with his whole heart.
A Life Well Lived
Anthony James Lucas was born on October 15, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. Raised on the South Side in a hardworking family, he learned early the values of responsibility, honesty, and perseverance. He graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1967 and went on to serve honorably in the United States Army from 1969 to 1973. His military service instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline, patriotism, and duty.
After returning home, Anthony built a successful career in logistics and supply chain management. He worked for more than 40 years with several prominent Chicago-area companies, eventually rising to the position of senior operations manager. Colleagues remembered him as a fair, knowledgeable leader who mentored many young professionals and always emphasized teamwork and doing the job right. He retired in 2015 but remained active as a consultant and volunteer with local workforce development programs.
Mr. Lucas was a longtime faithful member of Greater St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served as a trustee, usher, and mentor in the men’s ministry. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan, coaching youth basketball, playing chess, and tending to his garden. Family cookouts, Sunday dinners, and watching Chicago Bulls and Bears games were among his greatest joys. He took special pride in passing down life lessons, family history, and strong values to the next generations.

A Heartfelt Tribute
Mr. Anthony Lucas was the cornerstone of his family and a quiet example of strength and love. He worked hard not for recognition, but to provide a better life for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He taught them the importance of integrity, education, faith, and taking care of one another. Whether coaching a youth basketball team, fixing something around the house, or offering wise advice over a game of chess, Anthony showed up with consistency and care.
His warm smile, firm handshake, and heartfelt laughter brought comfort and joy to those around him. He cherished his marriage to Carolyn, his service to God and country, and the simple pleasures of life — early morning coffee, family gatherings, and watching his grandchildren grow. Anthony faced every challenge with resilience and grace, always trusting in God’s plan.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing Anthony has gone home to his Heavenly Father, reunited with loved ones who preceded him. His legacy of faith, family, and faithful service will continue to guide and inspire his loved ones for generations to come.
