Judy Schweizer Obituary May 19, 2026

Judy Schweizer, 81, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026.

Judy Schweizer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Known for her bright smile, compassionate heart, and joyful spirit, Judy lived a life filled with love, service, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.

A Life Well Lived

Judith Ann Schweizer was born on April 3, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She grew up in a close-knit family that valued faith, hard work, and togetherness. After graduating from high school, Judy attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she earned a degree in Education. She began her teaching career in the early 1970s and dedicated over 35 years to nurturing young minds as a beloved elementary school teacher in the Milwaukee and later Chicago areas.

Students and colleagues remembered Judy as the teacher who made learning fun, offered hugs when needed, and celebrated every small victory. She had a special gift for connecting with children and helping them believe in themselves. After retiring in 2008, she remained active in education through volunteer tutoring and mentoring new teachers.

Judy married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Schweizer, in 1967. Together they built a loving home first in Wisconsin and later in the Chicago suburbs of Illinois. She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and organized countless fellowship events and charity drives.

In her free time, Judy enjoyed gardening, baking, reading cozy mysteries, traveling with Bob, and spending summers at the family cottage in northern Wisconsin. She had a special talent for making everyone feel welcome and loved, whether through her famous apple strudel or a heartfelt conversation.

Surviving Family Members

Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Robert Schweizer of Naperville, Illinois; her children: daughter Lisa (David) Thompson of Madison, Wisconsin, and son Michael (Sarah) Schweizer of Denver, Colorado; her cherished grandchildren: Emma, Noah, and Sophie Thompson, and Benjamin and Olivia Schweizer; and many loving siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Margaret Anderson, and her brother, David Anderson.

A Heartfelt Tribute

Judy Schweizer was the heart of her family and a source of light to everyone who knew her. She lived with grace, loved deeply, and gave generously of her time and talents. Whether in the classroom, at church, or around the family dinner table, Judy created spaces filled with warmth, laughter, and acceptance.

She taught her children and grandchildren the beauty of simple joys, the importance of faith and kindness, and the value of showing up for one another. Her gentle hugs, encouraging words, and delicious homemade meals will forever live in the memories of those she cherished most. Judy faced life’s challenges with quiet courage and always found reasons to be grateful.
