John Ernest DeGrange Jr. Obituary: Legacy of Jack E. DeGrange (Easley, SC)

John Ernest DeGrange, Jr., known to family and friends as Jack, passed away peacefully at his home in Easley, South Carolina, on May 17, 2026, at the age of 57. Surrounded by his loving family and holding his wife’s hand in prayer, Jack’s final moments reflected the faith and devotion that guided his entire life.

Born on January 13, 1969, Jack lived with a quiet strength that deeply shaped the lives of those around him. A devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, he centered his life around faith, family, and everyday moments shared with the people he loved most. Whether gathered around the dinner table, talking over coffee, or spending evenings playing games together, Jack found joy in simple time spent with family.

He shared 32 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ammie DeGrange, a relationship built on love, faith, and unwavering commitment. Together they raised a large and close-knit family that remained at the center of Jack’s world. He is survived by his wife Ammie; his mother, Dorothy DeGrange; his children Emily Login and her husband Jon, John DeGrange III and his wife Aislinn, Timothy DeGrange, Sarah DeGrange, Noah DeGrange, Luke DeGrange, Elizabeth DeGrange, and Matthew DeGrange; and his grandchildren Maximilian, Philomena, Genevieve, Henry, Romey, and another grandchild expected soon. He is also survived by his sister, Denise Carpintieri.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” Ernest DeGrange Sr., whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Those who knew Jack often remember not only his faith, but also his calm presence and steady way of caring for others. He did not seek attention or recognition. Instead, he lived quietly and intentionally, finding purpose in being present for his family and faithful in daily life. His home was a place where conversations lingered, coffee was shared, and people felt welcomed.

His passing leaves a deep absence for those closest to him, but also a lasting example of devotion, kindness, and humility. The values he carried through life continue in the family he loved so deeply and in the memories shared by everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A Mass honoring Jack’s life will be held on May 22, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Love Crucified Community.

Jack’s life was not defined by public recognition or grand achievements, but by the consistency of his love, the strength of his faith, and the care he gave to the people around him every single day. That is the legacy his family and friends will continue to carry forward.
