Thomas English, 79, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026.
Thomas English, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected community leader, left this world surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 18, 2026. Known for his strong work ethic, quiet wisdom, and generous heart, Thomas touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his integrity, sense of humor, and steadfast love.
A Life Well Lived
Thomas Edward English was born on March 14, 1947, in Asheville, North Carolina. He grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work, nature, and family values. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. His years of service instilled in him a deep sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism that remained with him throughout his life.
Following his honorable discharge, Thomas moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he built a successful career as a mechanical engineer. For over 40 years, he worked with dedication at several manufacturing firms, eventually retiring as a senior project manager. Colleagues remembered him as a problem-solver who could fix anything—from complex machinery to broken team morale. His attention to detail and calm leadership made him a trusted mentor to many young engineers entering the field.
Outside of work, Thomas was an active member of his community. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, coached youth baseball for many years, and was a faithful member of Grace Community Church in Charlotte. He loved spending weekends fishing at Lake Norman, restoring classic cars in his garage, and cheering on the Carolina Panthers. His famous backyard barbecues and storytelling sessions were highlights for family and friends alike.
Thomas English was a man of few words but deep convictions. He taught his children the importance of honesty, perseverance, and treating others with respect. His gentle strength and dry sense of humor brought comfort and laughter even in difficult times.

A Heartfelt Tribute
Thomas English lived a life defined by love, service, and quiet greatness. He was the steady hand that guided his family through every storm and the encouraging voice that celebrated every victory. Whether teaching his grandchildren how to cast a fishing line, sharing stories from his Army days, or simply sitting on the porch with Maggie watching the sunset, Thomas showed what it means to live with purpose and presence.
He never sought the spotlight, yet his influence was felt by all. His commitment to his wife, his children, and his faith served as a shining example of what a good man looks like. In a busy world, Thomas reminded us of the importance of slowing down to enjoy life’s simple blessings—family dinners, Sunday mornings, and time spent together.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort knowing that Thomas has gone home to his eternal rest, reunited with loved ones who went before him. His legacy of love, faith, and integrity will continue through the generations who carry his name and his values.
