It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Shane Tyler Willis, 34, and Melynda Jean Willis, 38, both of Pierre, South Dakota. The beloved couple was taken from this world too soon following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near Mitchell on April 29, 2026.
Shane and Melynda are remembered as devoted partners who brought warmth, kindness, and dedication to their family and community. Shane was a well-respected manager of the Les Schwab Tire Center in Pierre. He was known for his strong work ethic, friendly presence, integrity, and the way he genuinely cared for his customers and team. His approachable nature and commitment made him a familiar and trusted figure throughout the Pierre area.
Melynda was a loving and cherished partner whose warmth and spirit complemented Shane’s perfectly. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and shared dreams. Their sudden loss has left an immeasurable void in the lives of their loved ones, including their two young children who were passengers in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries.
Those who knew Shane and Melynda speak of their kind hearts, dedication to family, and the joy they brought into the lives of friends and neighbors. They were active members of the Pierre community, and their absence is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing them.
The Pierre, South Dakota community has come together in mourning, sharing memories of the couple’s love, laughter, and positive impact. Though their time together on earth was cut short, the legacy of their love and the memories they created will live on in the hearts of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Shane and Melynda will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Steamboat Park Picnic Pavilion in Pierre. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor their lives.
