Roy Lee Alley, 95, of Franklin, passed at Alive Hospice in Nashville on Feb. 6, 2026. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on May 8, 1930, and spent much of his early life there, as well as many years of his long career in the life insurance industry.
Roy graduated from Miami High School, Miami, FL, and the University of Tennessee
at Chattanooga. He worked in the insurance industry for 46 years with Interstate Life & Accident Insurance, United Insurance Company of America, and American General Life & Accident.
He was a veteran of the US Army, the US Navy, and the Korean War.
Roy was a member of the Franklin First United Methodist Church. His hobbies included gardening, hybridizing daylilies, and all sporting events. He was predeceased by his father, Roy P. Alley of Plantation, Florida, and his grandmother, Mamie Elizabeth Alley of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Roy is survived by his wife, Palette Alley; daughters, Dr. Lee Ann Shipley (Jim), Cookeville, TN, and Linda Ord (Bill), Port Mansfield, TX, and his son Bart Alley (Becky), Arlington, TN. Grandchildren Joshua Jolley (Brandi), Jordan Jolley (Charlene), Jessica Ross (Matt), Jared Ord (Cassie), Jason Ord (Lindsey), Lynde Thompson (Rusty), Alex Johnson (Andrew), and ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Alive Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
