A Life Well Lived
Roger Bruce Foster, Sr. was born on February 18, 1947, in Houston, Texas. Raised in a working-class family, he learned the values of responsibility, perseverance, and respect from an early age. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1965 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970. His military service instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline, honor, and patriotism that guided him throughout his life.
After his honorable discharge, Roger built a successful career in the oil and gas industry. He worked for more than 40 years with several major energy companies in Houston, advancing to senior operations supervisor. Colleagues remembered him as a fair and knowledgeable leader who mentored many young professionals and emphasized safety, hard work, and doing things the right way. He retired in 2012 and enjoyed staying active through consulting work and volunteering with local trade organizations.
Roger was a longtime faithful member of Houston’s First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, and participated in men’s ministry. He loved fishing in Galveston Bay, coaching his sons’ baseball teams, restoring classic trucks, and watching Houston Astros games. Family barbecues, holiday traditions, and weekend fishing trips were among the highlights of his life.

A Heartfelt Tribute
Roger Bruce Foster, Sr. was the steadfast foundation of his family and a quiet hero to many. He lived with purpose, loved deeply, and served others without seeking recognition. As a Marine, he answered the call to serve his country. As a husband and father, he provided strength, stability, and unconditional love. As a grandfather, he was the storyteller, the encourager, and the one whose lap was always open.
He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of keeping your word, working hard, and treating people with respect. His booming laugh could fill a room, and his calm wisdom offered guidance through every challenge. Roger cherished his marriage to Patricia, his faith in God, and the simple joys of life — sunrise fishing trips, backyard barbecues, and watching his family grow.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing Roger has gone home to his Heavenly Father, reunited with loved ones who preceded him. His legacy of honor, faith, and family devotion will continue to live on through every generation that carries his name.
