Robert Fettig Obituary
Robert Joseph Fettig, age 76, of Petoskey, Michigan, died May 5, 2026 at home with family on the farm he loved.
He was born June 28, 1949, the son of Albean and Grace (Ernst) Fettig. He grew up in Petoskey and attended St. Francis Xavier School. On June 27, 1970, Robert married Norma Brennamen and together they made their home in Petoskey.
Bob loved three things more than anything; family, friends, and the farm. He loved his land and cattle like only a farmer does. A healthy calf, a fat happy steer, tall green hay fields, bumper corn crop, a sweet summer rain; all made him beam with pride and appreciation. But what mattered even more to him was the family and friends that made it much more than just a farm. He loved having visitors, and he always made everyone feel welcome. A barn tour, a look at a fresh calf, four-wheeler rides, a trip to the woodshed for a cold beer; time it right or wrong, and your visit could be stacking hay bales. No matter what, you would always get a joke or two and that sly grin.
Bob is survived by five children, Bronson (Rachel) Fettig of Petoskey, Robert Fettig Jr. of Petoskey, Angela (Dave) Holmes of Petoskey, Donna Distel of Raisingsun, OH, and Jason Fettig of Petoskey; thirteen grandchildren, Chase, Cora, Charlize, Alexa, Lucas, Ashlee, Jordan, Nevaeh, Kaidence, Kinleigh, Hannah, River, and Calla; and sister Judy (Gary) Vroman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Fettig; parents, Albean and Grace Fettig; brothers Jerry, Jack, and Donald of Petoskey; and sister Sally (Rodney) Magee of Kent City, Michigan.
A funeral service will take place for Robert on May 15, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier in Petoskey, with Father Peter officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with the funeral mass following at 11:00 AM.
