Randall “Randy or Rabbit” Barnett, 67, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 10, 2026 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Randy’s obituary. Burial will follow in the St. Clair Township Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Following the burial, please stop at Sparetime Bar in Ute and have a toast for Randy. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Goslar Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. Those that are unable to attend the service, there will be a Celebration of Life for Randy on August 23, 2026 at the Eagles Club in Missouri Valley. Times will be given at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Randall Robert Barnett was born on August 23, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska to Frances Maria Pithan and Kent Amis Barnett. Embarked on a extraordinary journey Randy’s academic pursuits culminated in his graduation from Schleswig High School with the class of 1976.

Randy’s aviation career took flight with Rocky Mountain Air, followed by twenty remarkable years at Continental Airlines where he excelled in ramp, gate agent, and management positions granting him access to global destinations. Randy lived in Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, Phoenix, where he met and fell in love with April Hoffman. He married his love on October 17, 1992, and moved to Houston for some time before returning to Iowa to build a life together in Missouri Valley.

Through the years of raising kids and taking them off to any sport they loved. He also took on a green thumb and started to have gardens where he would grow many vegetables in the summer sharing them with whoever he could. Randy had a love for making new friends anywhere he went and could sit down with just about anyone who needed a good talk and a cold beer.  Anyone who knew Randy could tell you countless stories of adventures they made with him. He enjoyed managing the doc road house and doing Sunday services at the establishment.

Randy and April’s bond remained strong until his passing on May 10 at their Missouri Valley home. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his mother, Frances Barnett; beloved wife, April Barnett of Missouri Valley, Iowa; son, Brandon (Lexi) Barnett of Ute, Iowa; daughter, Brooke (Jaydon) Barnett-Allen; brothers, Rick (Deb) Barnett of Schleswig, Iowa and Ron (Suzie) Barnett of Ute, Iowa; sister, Tana Barnett of Whiting, Iowa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, who all adored him.

Now Randy is reunited with his father, Kent Barnett; brothers, Rodney Barnett and Roger Barnett; grandparents, Amis Barnett, Helen Barnett, Raymond Pithan and Margie Pithan; and parents-in-law, Joseph Hoffman and Jewelette Hoffman in eternal bliss.
