Nathan “Nate” Allen, age 37, of Mapleton, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He will be remembered as a skilled welder, devoted father, loving son, and hardworking man whose life reflected dedication, craftsmanship, and love for family.
Early Life and Education
Nathan Warren Allen was born on March 8, 1989, in Onawa, to Bud “Little Bud” Allen and Patsy Jo (Madsen) Allen.
He completed much of his education through Woodward Academy and graduated from West Monona High School in 2007.
From an early age, Nate showed determination and hands-on skill, traits that would later define his career.
Welding Career and Work Life
In 2011, Nate became a certified welder at Wilson Trailer.
He went on to build a strong career working for:
- Saber Industries
- Berry Lumber
- Monona County Iron (where he worked for nearly 10 years)
Throughout his career, Nate designed and welded countless projects, earning respect for his craftsmanship, work ethic, and reliability.
Marriage and Family Life
Nate married Jennifer McVey on February 8, 2012, in Onawa.
Together they built a family and welcomed two daughters:
- Adley Allen
- Timber Allen
He also shared a close bond with Keira Nolan and remained a strong presence in his children’s lives.
Above all, Nate’s greatest pride and joy was being a father.
Interests, Hobbies, and Personality
Nate enjoyed a wide range of hobbies that reflected his energetic and outdoors-driven personality.
He loved:
- deer and pheasant hunting
- riding motorcycles
- playing pool and darts
- spending time with his dogs, Heather and Zeus
- watching the Kansas City Chiefs
Those who knew him describe him as someone who enjoyed life’s simple freedoms—outdoors, family, and friendship.

Nathan is survived by:
- his children, Adley Allen, Timber Allen, and Keira Nolan
- his former spouse, Jennifer Gross
- his sister, Tracy (Chad) Bell
- his brothers, Jamie Allen and Heath (Heidi) Allen
- and many extended family members and friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Patsy Allen; grandparents Joseph “Bud” Allen, Mary Allen, Richard Madsen, and Joan Madsen; uncle Jack Allen; and sister-in-law Stacey Allen.
Funeral and Service Information
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Goslar Funeral Home Chapel in Onawa.
Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Blencoe, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Goslar Chapel.
Family and friends will share memories at 7:30 P.M. during visitation.
A luncheon will follow burial at the Onawa Country Club.
