Mrs. Beverly Alfreda McFarlin Sutton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of her community, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Known for her warm hospitality, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith, Beverly lived a life rich in love, family, and quiet acts of kindness that touched everyone around her.
A Life Well Lived
Beverly Alfreda McFarlin was born on August 12, 1943, in Macon, Georgia. She was raised in a loving Christian home where she learned the importance of faith, family, and hard work. After graduating from high school, she attended Georgia State University and became a dedicated elementary school educator. She taught for more than 30 years in the Fulton County School System, retiring in 2005. Generations of students remembered her as the caring teacher who made learning joyful and offered encouragement to every child who entered her classroom.
In 1965, Beverly married the love of her life, Mr. James Robert Sutton. Together they built a beautiful home and life in Atlanta, Georgia, raising their family with strong values, laughter, and unconditional love. Beverly was a devoted homemaker who created a warm and welcoming environment for her family and friends. She was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she served in the women’s ministry, sang in the choir, and organized countless community outreach programs. Her famous peach cobbler and sweet potato pie were legendary at church suppers and family reunions.
Beverly found great joy in gardening, sewing, reading her Bible daily, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a special gift for listening and offering wise, compassionate counsel. Her home was always open to those in need, and she never hesitated to help a neighbor or support a worthy cause.
