It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Martha Luna Miranda, 39, of Edinburg, Texas. Martha was taken from this world too soon on May 2, 2026, in a devastating car crash at the intersection of Salinas Street and West Monte Cristo Road in Edinburg. Her sudden loss has left her family, friends, and the Rio Grande Valley community in deep mourning.
Martha is remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother of three whose warmth, strength, and care for her family were central to her life. She was a cherished presence in her home, pouring love into her husband and children while navigating daily life with dedication and grace. Those who knew her speak of her selflessness and the joy she brought to her loved ones.
On the night of the accident, Martha was driving with her husband and their three children when their vehicle was struck by another driver who allegedly ran a red light. Martha was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while their children — including boys aged 9 and 5 who were transported to San Antonio for treatment — were also injured.
Miguel Angel Suarez, 31, the driver of the other vehicle, has been arrested and is facing charges including intoxication manslaughter and multiple counts of intoxication assault. The community has expressed outrage over the preventable nature of this tragedy.
Though her time with us was cut far too short, Martha’s legacy as a loving mother and wife will live on through her family and the memories they hold dear. The Edinburg and broader Rio Grande Valley community stands with her loved ones during this heartbreaking time.
Our deepest condolences go out to Martha’s husband, her three children, extended family, and all who loved her. May you find strength in one another and comfort in the beautiful memories of a life well-lived in service to family.
Rest in peace, Martha Luna Miranda. Your love and light as a mother will never be forgotten. 🕊️
