Mark Victor Westerling Obituary | May 5, 2026 | Simsbury, CT
Mark Victor Westerling of Torrington, formerly of Canton, Connecticut, died peacefully on May 5, 2026. He was the eldest son of Victor Leo Westerling and Joan Sonia (McCarthy) Westerling.
Mark was born on July 6, 1959, in Collinsville, Connecticut. He attended Canton schools and graduated from Canton High School in 1977. He went on to fulfill his dream of becoming a machinist. He was employed for 13 years at J.F. Fredericks Tool Co. on Spring Lane in Farmington, Connecticut, and then for 23 years at Perry Technology Corporation in New Hartford, Connecticut, retiring in 2010.
Mark also had a passion for muscle cars and fast bikes, and he owned many over the years.
He is survived by his first wife, Victoria (Sapia) Gillette, with whom he had two sons: Jeremy Victor Westerling (Carrie) of Paso Robles, California, and Nicholas Sebastian Westerling of Torrington, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his second wife, Diane (Bell) Westerling of Torrington, Connecticut, who left him with two beautiful identical twin daughters, Sondra and Krista Westerling. He is also survived by five grandchildren and his best friend, Lincoln Roy Brucker of Bakerville, Connecticut.
Mark’s wish was to be cremated and have his ashes spread by his friends in Collinsville, Connecticut, where he was born, with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” playing loudly on the car stereo and a beer raised in his honor.
