Joan Marie Edmonds, 90, of Coggon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at United Parish Church in Coggon, Iowa. Inurnment will follow at Coggon Cemetery.

Joan was born on October 18, 1935, in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Douglas and Hazel (Vesey) Crouch. She was a 1952 graduate of Coggon High School. On November 7, 1958, Joan was united in marriage to Harold Floyd Edmonds in Coggon.

She worked as a custodian at North Linn Schools, until her retirement in 1997. Joan was an active and valued participant in her community; her involvement extended to numerous organizations. She was a devoted member of the United Parish Church of Coggon, the American Legion, the Coggon Auxiliary, and the Coggon Historical Society. Her leadership skills were evident in her role as Chairman of CABA, and she also served as cub scout leader. Joan’s longstanding volunteerism at the Faith Mission Thriftstore stood as a testament to her generous spirit and commitment to service.

Joan’s interests and passions reflected a life well-lived and deeply enriched by the joys of simple pleasures and meaningful connections. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, camping, fishing, and treasured the company of friends in both a local book club and a card club. She enjoyed visiting local wineries.

Having faced the profound loss of her parents at a young age, Joan held family close to her heart above all else. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, faithfully supporting all their endeavors and celebrations. Her love was a steadfast pillar within her family and a source of comfort and strength.

Joan is survived and lovingly remembered by her four children, Douglas (Jacci) Edmonds of Cedar Rapids, Vicki (Joe) Ricken of Marshalltown, Iowa, Steve (Joan) Edmonds of Cedar, Iowa, and Timothy Edmonds (fiancé, Gagandeep Singh) of Cathedral City, California; nine grandchildren, Jenny Edmonds, Megan (Tony) Wullner, Tessa Vollbrecht, Alexi Edmonds, Erin (Luke) Wright, Stephanie (Tanner) Hunt, Lindsey Ricken (fiancé, Brock Woosley), Bryce (Jazzy) Edmonds, and Bailey (Lindsey) Gustafson; and 15 great-grandchildren Maceo, Sienna, Charlize, Cedric, Carma, Cainen, Jason, Kaine, Trevor, Tysen, Harper, Blakely, Liam, Oliver, and Lily.
