Jacquelyn Sue Patterson was born on July 22, 1952, in Joplin, Missouri, to Harold and Dorothy Patterson. Raised in a close-knit family rooted in faith and strong values, Jackie learned early the importance of kindness, hard work, and helping others.

As a young girl, Jackie enjoyed music, reading, school activities, and spending time with family during holidays and church gatherings. Her caring nature and bright personality were evident from childhood and remained defining qualities throughout her life.

Jacquelyn graduated from Joplin High School in 1970 before pursuing studies in education and community services. She later built a respected career working in elementary education and administrative support roles where she became known for her patience, compassion, and dedication to helping others.

Students, coworkers, and parents admired Jackie for her gentle encouragement and calm demeanor. She believed every person deserved kindness and understanding, and she carried those values into every aspect of her professional and personal life.

She was also a proud grandmother to Emily, Olivia, Nathan, Claire, Benjamin, and Grace, all of whom brought tremendous joy and meaning into her life. Jackie treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, whether baking cookies, attending school activities, or sharing family stories and traditions.

She is additionally survived by her sister, Linda Patterson Hayes, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, church friends, former coworkers, and lifelong companions who will forever cherish her memory.

Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Patterson.

Funeral Details

A celebration of life service honoring Jacquelyn Sue Norton will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Springfield, Missouri. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Maplewood Memorial Cemetery.
