Jace Thomas Bivens passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 20, leaving behind a family and community struggling to put into words the loss of someone who brought so much warmth into the lives around him.
Born on May 24, 2005, in Amarillo, Jace grew up surrounded by a close family, lifelong friendships, and the kind of everyday moments that now feel impossible to forget. From an early age, he had a personality that naturally pulled people toward him. He could make a room feel lighter just by walking into it, often with a joke, a grin, or one of the huge hugs people who loved him will always remember.
Jace graduated from Randall High School in 2023, where he formed many of the friendships that remained important to him throughout his life. Friends and family describe him as someone who was creative, funny, thoughtful, and deeply compassionate in ways that often showed up quietly. He cared about people sincerely, and even small conversations with him had a way of making others feel seen and included.
He enjoyed the simple things that made life fun and meaningful to him. Hunting trips, video games, building with Legos, spending time with friends, and being around family were some of the things he loved most. Those closest to him say he never needed grand moments to be happy. He found joy in laughter, shared time, and being with the people he loved.
What many will remember most about Jace was the comfort of his presence. He had an easy warmth about him that made others feel safe and welcome. Whether spending time with lifelong friends or sitting quietly with family, he brought a sense of closeness that cannot easily be replaced.
Jace is survived by his parents, Jake and Tessa Bivens; his brother, Dharma; his grandparents, Will and Su Bivens, and Jim and Diana Cavin; along with a large extended family and many friends who loved him deeply.
A celebration of Jace’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount in Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a young man whose kindness, humor, and heart left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Though his life was far too short, the memories Jace created with the people around him will continue to live on in stories, laughter, photographs, and the countless small moments his family and friends now hold close to their hearts. He was deeply loved, and he will never be forgotten.
