Irene L. Henry, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted member of her community, entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Known for her gentle kindness, radiant smile, and unwavering faith, Irene lived a life filled with grace, compassion, and quiet strength. She touched the hearts of everyone around her with her warmth, wisdom, and selfless love.

A Life Well Lived

Irene Louise Henry was born on July 22, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up in a close-knit family in the Hyde Park neighborhood, where she learned the values of faith, hard work, and caring for others. After graduating from Withrow High School, Irene attended the University of Cincinnati, earning a degree in Elementary Education.

She dedicated over 36 years to teaching in the Cincinnati Public Schools system, primarily as a beloved third-grade teacher. Generations of students remembered her as the patient and encouraging educator who made learning fun and helped every child feel valued and capable. Even after retiring in 2005, Irene continued giving back through volunteer tutoring and church education programs.

In 1965, Irene married the love of her life, Richard Allen Henry. Together they built a beautiful home and raised a family grounded in love, faith, and strong values. She was a longtime active member of Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and organized many fellowship events. Irene had a passion for gardening, baking, reading historical novels, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her famous homemade apple pies and cinnamon rolls were always anticipated at family gatherings and church potlucks.
