Eric Paul Pressley Obituary May 9, 2026
Eric Paul Pressley, 61, of Bonneau Beach, passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Born on August 12, 1964, in Bamberg, South Carolina, he was the son of Samuel Durant Pressley, Jr. and Kathleen Janie Powell Pressley Carter.
Eric was a former member of Life Givers Ministries and Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, where his father faithfully served as a minister. He was a 1982 graduate of Macedonia High School and later earned an associate’s degree in forestry management from HGTC. Eric retired from Santee Cooper as a heavy equipment operator and had previously worked as a forestry technician with the U.S. Forest Service in Witherbee. Among the many experiences he held with pride was being assigned to fight a major fire at Yellowstone National Park in 1988. Eric found great joy in the outdoors. He was a member of Berkeley Hunting Club, where he treasured the fellowship of deer hunting, and he was also an avid fisherman who loved spending time on Lake Moultrie, especially fishing and duck hunting. In his younger years, he and his family enjoyed trips to amusement parks such as Disney and Carowinds, or anywhere there was a roller coaster to ride. Above all, Eric dearly loved his family, and one of his greatest joys was caring for his grandson for three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Michael Pressley; and his stepfather, William “Doc” Carter.
Eric leaves behind his beloved wife, Tabitha Denise Buxton Pressley; a daughter, Sumar Pressley (Bobby) of Bonneau; two sons, Samuel Pressley of Bonneau Beach and Jesse Wiggins of Bonneau; a sister, Linda Bunch (Billy) of Travelers Rest; two brothers, Donald Pressley (Ann) of LA and Keith Pressley (Nora) of Pineville; and his grandson, Greyson James Dupree.
A memorial service honoring Eric will be held at 6:00 PM Monday evening at Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 PM until the hour of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1698 County Line Road, Cross, SC 29436.
Eric will be remembered for his love of family, his quiet strength, and the joy he found in the outdoors. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
