Angela Maria Alu Obituary (1987–2026)

Angela Maria Alu, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday at her home after a courageous and hard‑fought battle with Alexander’s disease.

Born January 20, 1987, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School, Penn State University with a B.S. in American Studies, and McCann School of Business & Technology’s Medical Assistant Program.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine DiCindio Alu.

Ang was a die‑hard football fan. She loved cozying up for college football Saturdays and NFL Sundays, passionately supporting the Penn State Nittany Lions and the New England Patriots. She was always quick to engage in playful banter with anyone rooting for the opposing teams.

A true animal lover, Ang was a friend to all furry creatures and the proud owner of her four “fur‑baby” guinea pigs.

Ang was also a TV fanatic. She spent countless hours watching Guy Fieri cooking challenges and a wide variety of comedy specials. Her favorite comedian was Sebastian Maniscalco; whenever she needed a good laugh, she’d turn to one of his skits and was known to share them with friends and family to spread her joy. Ang herself had a sharp wit and was known for her hilarious, spot‑on comebacks to just about anything anyone had to say.

Extremely well‑versed in American history, Ang had a collection of presidential bobbleheads. She was deeply patriotic and loved the Fourth of July, always dressing in festive attire and playing Toby Keith and other country music to celebrate the red, white, and blue. She also loved Christmas. Her annual tradition was attending the Trans‑Siberian Orchestra concert, and she cherished making homemade ravioli with her dad, proud of her Italian heritage.

Ang is survived by her lifelong best friend, her father, Joseph M. Alu, who was by her side every day. The two shared an inseparable bond. She is also survived by her stepmother, Catherine Hartman Alu; step‑siblings; niece and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; her loving caregiver, Carol Mattern; and her childhood best friend, Nicole Brennan.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 10, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Carlucci‑Golden‑DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker Street, Dunmore. Calling hours will also be held Monday, May 11, from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Summit. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Dunmore Cemetery.
