Carl H. Steinweg Obituary May 22, 2026 | Cincinnati, OH

Carl H. Steinweg, 79, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026.

Carl H. Steinweg, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and respected member of the Cincinnati community, entered into eternal rest on May 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his strong work ethic, quiet wisdom, dry sense of humor, and steadfast integrity, Carl lived a life of purpose, faith, and deep commitment to his family and community. He will be remembered as a man who led by example and built a lasting legacy of honor and kindness.

A Life Well Lived

Carl Henry Steinweg was born on July 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Raised in a hardworking German-American family in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, he learned early the values of responsibility, perseverance, and respect. He graduated from Elder High School in 1964 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. His military service instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism.

After returning home, Carl built a successful career in mechanical engineering and manufacturing. For more than 42 years, he worked with dedication for several prominent Cincinnati companies, eventually advancing to senior project engineer. Colleagues remembered him as a meticulous, fair leader who mentored many young engineers and always emphasized precision, safety, and doing things the right way. He retired in 2013 but remained active as a consultant and enjoyed volunteering his technical expertise for local nonprofit projects.

Carl was a longtime faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Church, where he served as an usher and participated in the men’s ministry. He loved fishing on the Ohio River, restoring classic cars in his garage, playing golf, and cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. Family camping trips, weekend barbecues, and holiday gatherings were among the highlights of his life. He took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren practical skills and the importance of faith and family.

Surviving Family Members

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Ann (Reynolds) Steinweg of Cincinnati; his children: son Michael (Jennifer) Steinweg of Mason, Ohio, and daughter Lisa (Mark) Thompson of Loveland, Ohio; his cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, and Ethan Steinweg, and Abigail and Jackson Thompson; and many dear siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Evelyn Steinweg, and his brother, Richard Steinweg.

A Heartfelt Tribute

Carl H. Steinweg was a man of quiet strength and unwavering love. He never sought the spotlight, yet his steady presence was the foundation his family depended upon. As a husband, he was loyal and supportive. As a father and grandfather, he was patient, encouraging, and always ready with a helpful hand or a piece of wise advice. He taught his family the importance of hard work, keeping your word, and treating others with respect.

From his years of service in the Army to building a successful career and raising a loving family, Carl lived with purpose and integrity. His calm demeanor, dry humor, and strong hugs brought comfort and joy to those around him. He cherished his marriage to Margaret, his Catholic faith, and the simple joys of life — early morning coffee, time with his grandchildren, and watching the sunset after a long day.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing Carl has gone home to his Heavenly Father, reunited with loved ones who went before him. His legacy of faith, family, and faithful service will continue to guide and inspire his loved ones for generations to come.
