Arthur “Bob” Robert Goodman, 81, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026.
Arthur “Bob” Robert Goodman, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and respected member of the Phoenix community, entered into eternal rest on May 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his strong handshake, quick wit, generous heart, and steadfast integrity, Bob lived a life defined by hard work, faith, and deep devotion to his family. He will be remembered as a man who led by example and left a lasting legacy of love and honor.
A Life Well Lived
Arthur Robert Goodman was born on September 14, 1944, in Phoenix, Arizona. Affectionately known as “Bob” from a young age, he grew up in a working-class family that taught him the values of honesty, perseverance, and responsibility. He graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1962 and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967. His years of service instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism.
After returning to Phoenix, Bob built a successful career in the construction and real estate development industry. For more than 40 years, he worked with dedication, eventually founding Goodman Builders, a company known for quality homes and commercial projects throughout the Valley. Colleagues and clients admired his honesty, attention to detail, and fair business practices. He retired in 2010 but remained active in local homebuilding associations and enjoyed mentoring young entrepreneurs.
Bob was a longtime active member of North Phoenix Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and volunteered with the men’s ministry. He loved golfing, fishing at Roosevelt Lake, restoring classic cars in his garage, and cheering for the Arizona Cardinals and Diamondbacks. Family camping trips, weekend barbecues, and holiday gatherings were among the highlights of his life. He took special pride in teaching his children and grandchildren practical skills and the importance of faith and family.
Surviving Family Members
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Ann (Reynolds) Goodman of Phoenix; his children: son Michael (Jennifer) Goodman of Scottsdale, Arizona, and daughter Lisa (Mark) Thompson of Mesa, Arizona; his cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, and Ethan Goodman, and Abigail and Jackson Thompson; and many dear siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Goodman, and his brother, Richard Goodman.
Funeral Details and Arrangements
A Celebration of Life service for Arthur “Bob” Robert Goodman will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at North Phoenix Baptist Church, with Pastor Steven Whitaker officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hansen Mortuary.
Interment with military honors will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will include his son, son-in-law, and grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to North Phoenix Baptist Church or to the Wounded Warrior Project in Bob’s honor.
