Blake Bluhm Obituary May 9, 2026 | Omaha, NE

Blake Bluhm, 67, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Blake Bluhm, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and respected businessman in the Omaha community, entered into eternal rest on May 9, 2026, surrounded by his family. Known for his sharp mind, generous spirit, quick wit, and steadfast integrity, Blake lived a life of purpose, hard work, and deep commitment to his family and community. He will be remembered as a man who built things that lasted — businesses, relationships, and a legacy of love.

A Life Well Lived

Blake Edward Bluhm was born on March 22, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska. Raised in a close-knit family, he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for building and problem-solving from a young age. He graduated from Westside High School in 1977 and went on to earn a degree in Construction Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Blake founded Bluhm Construction Company in 1985, growing it into a well-respected firm known for quality commercial and residential projects across Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. For over 40 years, he earned a reputation as an honest, detail-oriented leader who treated his employees like family and delivered exceptional results for his clients. Even after stepping back from daily operations in recent years, he remained actively involved in mentoring the next generation of builders and giving back to local trade organizations.

Blake was a longtime member of Christ Community Church in Omaha, where he served on the building committee and supported numerous outreach initiatives. He enjoyed golfing, coaching his children’s sports teams, fishing at Lake Manawa, and cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He took special pride in family vacations, weekend projects around the house, and watching his grandchildren grow.

Surviving Family Members

Blake is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Susan Marie (Thompson) Bluhm of Omaha; his children: son Tyler (Rachel) Bluhm of Lincoln, Nebraska, and daughter Ashley (Jordan) Reynolds of Papillion, Nebraska; his cherished grandchildren: Logan, Harper, and Everly Bluhm, and Mason and Brooklyn Reynolds; and many dear siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Patricia Bluhm, and his brother, Craig Bluhm.

A Heartfelt Tribute

Blake Bluhm was a man who lived with purpose and loved with strength. He built more than buildings — he built a life rooted in faith, family, and faithfulness. As a husband, he was loyal and supportive. As a father and grandfather, he was present, encouraging, and always ready to teach a lesson or share a laugh. He showed those around him what it means to work with integrity, lead with humility, and love without condition.

His hands were strong from years of honest labor, but his heart was even stronger. Whether on a job site, on the golf course, or gathered around the family table, Blake brought warmth, wisdom, and a steady presence. He cherished his marriage to Susan, his time with his grandchildren, and the simple joys of a Nebraska summer evening. His legacy is one of hard work well done, lives well impacted, and love well given.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing Blake has gone home to his Heavenly Father, reunited with loved ones who went before him. His influence and love will continue to guide his family for many generations to come.
