A Life Well Lived
Rebecca Katherine Pippin was born on November 3, 1946, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Raised in a close-knit family in East Tennessee, she learned early the values of faith, hard work, and caring for others. She graduated from Central High School and went on to earn a degree in Nursing from the University of Tennessee.
Rebecca enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a registered nurse, working for over 38 years primarily at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She specialized in maternal and child health, bringing comfort, care, and encouragement to countless families during some of the most important moments of their lives. Colleagues and patients remembered her as the compassionate nurse with a calming presence who always went above and beyond to offer support and hope.
In 1969, Rebecca married her high school sweetheart, Charles Edward Pippin. Together they built a loving home filled with faith, laughter, and family traditions. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in women’s ministry and community outreach programs.
Rebecca found great joy in gardening, reading, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially loved family vacations to the Smoky Mountains and hosting holiday gatherings where her home was always open and welcoming.
