Wendell “Dale” Widner Obituary May 11, 2026
Mr. Wendell “Dale” Widner, age 76, of Cedar Crossing, died Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following extended illness. He was a native of Colquitt in Miller County and lived there until enlisting in the U.S. Marines. After his military service, he began a forty-five year career as a truck driver, retiring in 2015. He was Church of God by faith and was an avid reader.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Durrell Jack Widner and Pauline McCalvin Widner; three brothers, Jesse Widner, Eugene Widner, and Willie Durrell Widner; and a nephew, Danny Allen Widner.
Mr. Widner is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Elaine Hall Widner; one stepdaughter, Marsha Galbreath Beasley and husband David, all of Cedar Crossing; two step-grandsons, Matthew Beasley and wife Madison of Vidalia, and Caleb Beasley of Cedar Crossing; six step-great-grandchildren, Peighton Mitchum, Andrew Jackson, Jackson Beasley, Jacee Beasley, Everlee Beasley, and Reid Beasley; six siblings, Jerry Widner of Donalsonville, Lucky Widner of Beaufort, South Carolina, Linda Widner Jacks of Callaway, Florida, Jennifer Widner Grant of Colquitt, Rex Widner and wife Marie of Leesburg, and Johnny Widner of Lyons; and numerous niece and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon, May 14th, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Bishop David Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Crossing Church of God Cemetery.
