Myron Richard Edelkind Obituary (1943 — 2026) Macon, GA
Myron Richard Edelkind, loving husband of Gilda Poirier Edelkind, passed away on May 11, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 82 years old. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at Riverside Cemetery.
In addition to Gilda, who he adored for over 20 years, Myron is survived by his daughter, Daniela (Emmanuel); his sons, Zohar (Wendy) and Ari (Mary); stepsons, Kyle (Jennifer) and Eric (Jessica); and his grandchildren: Joseph, Lily, Colin, Alexandre, Eli, Madison, Kameryn (Cady), Hannah (Caleb), Desiree, Ava, Alecia, Molly, and Hunter; and great-granddaughters, Jadyn and Lila. He is also survived by his brothers, Shane (Amy), Steve (Patricia); sisters, Rena (Frank), Tamar, and Amy; and a beloved cousin, Myra.
He was preceded in death by his father, Murray Aaron Edelkind, his mother, Mary Cohen Edelkind, and his beloved grandmother, Golda; his brothers, Daniel, Alan, Jamie and Michael; his sister, Michelle; and a beloved cousin, Robbie.
Myron’s life was defined by service to others. His “career” began early. He was still just in high school and college, when he began installing and servicing refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems all over New York City – in hotels, supermarkets, restaurants and schools. Even way back then, people trusted him because he took pride in doing things the right way.
In 1966, he opened his first HVAC and refrigeration service business, University Refrigeration, a company he built with the same care and precision he brought to all his work. Myron then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, a period that became an important chapter in his life. After completing his military service, he returned to New York and began teaching HVAC students at Apex Technical School, while also working for an HVAC company in the Bronx. His ability to teach and mentor others was incredibly important to him.
In 1971, his work took him overseas to Israel and Nigeria, where he accepted contract positions that broadened his technical experience and exposed him to large‑scale international projects. He returned to the United States in 1979 to work as an HVAC engineer, contributing to major projects ranging from $1.5 million to $46 million, including work at Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport. His expertise and steady leadership were central to the success of each project he was a part of.
In 1983, Myron founded Air Solutions and Investigations, an HVAC company he owned and operated until his retirement in 2016. His reputation for integrity, technical skill, and problem‑solving earned him the respect of colleagues and clients throughout his career.
Myron also remained committed to educating the next generation. He taught at Piedmont Technical College, sharing his knowledge and experience with students preparing to enter the field he cared so deeply about. More than anything he accomplished in his long and full life, Myron was devoted to the people he loved. His love for his family will be remembered always.
