Greg J. Gudmundson Obituary May 1, 2026 – Newington, CT
Greg J. Gudmundson, 64, of Newington, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026. He was born in Hartford on July 16, 1961, son of the late Chester and Arline (Griffin) Gudmundson. Greg graduated from Windham High School, Class of 1979. He continued his studies at the Rhode Island School of Photography.
Greg loved the art of photography, taking pictures, and talking about cameras, which went hand in hand with his love of live music and going to concerts. He attended many live shows and found great joy in taking photos of some of his favorite acts, including James Montgomery, Chuck Negron and Three Dog Night, Edgar and Johnny Winter, Rick Derringer, and NRBQ. Greg turned his passion for photography into a career, working for many years at the Camera Bar in Hartford.
He also enjoyed the stars, the night sky, and notifying his siblings of any pending celestial events or interesting current events. Greg was proud to be a 28-year friend of Bill W. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Greg is survived by his siblings Karen Gudmundson, Gail Switchenko and her husband John, and Mark Gudmundson; and nieces and nephews Rachel Gudmundson and James Gudmundson, and Nora Switchenko and David Switchenko. He is also survived by many close friends, especially Kevin Ahern and John Evans, his friend since they were six years old.
