Andrew M. Prischak, Jr., age 81, of Millcreek, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at UPMC Hamot. Born September 12, 1929 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Andrew M. and Mary T. Semanco Prischak.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and then worked for General Electric for 39 years as the supervisor of quality control. Andrew was also the president of Plastek Industries for 11 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the society of Electrical Engineers, the American Quality Control Group, the Erie Yacht Club, and the GE Quarter Century Club. He was previously a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. James Roman Catholic Church, as well as the Scoutmaster at St. James School. Andrew had a passion for the outdoors. He loved going to his camp in Titusville and was an avid hunter and fisherman.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Forsythe; two brothers-in-law, Eli Dragon and James Forsythe.Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Elvira “Ellie” Basta Prischak; 2 sons, Dr. Andrew M. Prischak III, wife Susan, and Robert J. Prischak, wife Barbara, both of Erie; 2 daughters, Patricia M. Togioka, husband Bob, of Salem, OR, and Janet A. Weiss, husband Rick, of Cary, NC; 12 grandchildren, Amanda and Rachael Prischak; Brandon Togioka, wife Jennifer, and Shawna Togioka; Alec, Andrea, and Nadine Weiss; and Stephanie, Joshua, Ashley, Jacob, and Natalie Prischak; 1 brother, Joseph Prischak, wife Isabelle, of Erie; 3 sisters, Ann Dragon of Ashtabula, OH, Veronica Adkins, husband Edwin, and Elaine Brzezicki, husband Robert, both of Erie; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
