She was well known for her strawberry jam and brown bag apple pie that she shared with many!

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Lee Morgan and Larry Cletus Morgan; and a niece, Jill Samuelson.

Surviving are her husband of over 35 years, Doug Shields; her son, Dustin Shields (wife, Kelly); her grandson, Dakota Shields; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Morgan (wife of Larry); brother-in-law, Phillip Shields (wife, Gwyn); nieces and nephews, Matthew Shields (wife, Jamie), Nicholas Shields (wife, Taylor), and Hannah Shields, Kristin Hughes (husband, Justin), and Julie Kimsey (husband, Ed); many great nieces and nephews; a special friend, Peggy Dull; her canine buddy, Bailey; and granddog, Stella.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Bruce Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, at the funeral home.
