Brooke Skypala Obituary: Amarillo Nurse and Mother Dies in Texas Hill Country Plane Crash

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Brooke Skypala, 45, of Amarillo, Texas. Brooke was taken from this world too soon on May 1, 2026, in a plane crash in the Texas Hill Country near Wimberley while traveling with friends to a pickleball tournament in New Braunfels. Her sudden loss has left her family, friends, colleagues, and the Amarillo community heartbroken.

Brooke was a dedicated nurse and compassionate caregiver with years of experience in healthcare, including hospice and ICU settings. She recently fulfilled a long-held dream by becoming a licensed professional counselor, opening her practice at Finding Silver Linings Counseling. With a Master’s of Education from West Texas A&M University, she helped individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Her patients and colleagues described her as empathetic, skilled, and deeply committed to making a positive difference in people’s lives.

A loving wife and devoted mother, Brooke’s greatest joy came from her family. She was known for her warmth, quick wit, athletic spirit, and ability to light up any room. An active member of the Amarillo Pickleball Club, she enjoyed competing, mentoring young players, and giving back — including helping host pickleball camps for children from the Amarillo Children’s Home.

Brooke’s vibrant personality, kindness, and passion for helping others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. The Amarillo community, healthcare professionals, and pickleball family are united in mourning this incredible woman whose impact reached far beyond her years.

Our deepest condolences go out to Brooke’s husband, children, extended family, friends at Finding Silver Linings Counseling, the Amarillo Pickleball Club, and all whose lives she touched. May you find strength in each other and comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Brooke. Your compassion, energy, and love will never be forgotten. 🕊️
