Steven Gerald Prebeck was born on August 12, 1958, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Richard and Dorothy Prebeck. Raised in a close-knit family, Steven learned the importance of hard work, perseverance, and faith from an early age.
As a young man, Steven developed a passion for mechanics and engineering. He graduated from Appleton East High School in 1976 before attending a technical college where he studied industrial technology and equipment maintenance.
Steven went on to build a successful career in manufacturing operations and mechanical services, working for several respected companies throughout Wisconsin over the course of more than forty years. He earned a reputation as a dependable professional who approached every task with precision, dedication, and pride.
Coworkers admired Steven not only for his technical knowledge but also for his patience and willingness to mentor younger employees. He believed in treating everyone fairly and always made time to offer guidance or encouragement to those around him.
Outside of work, Steven found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. He loved fishing trips in northern Wisconsin, camping weekends, woodworking projects, and cheering on local sports teams. Family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and backyard cookouts were among the moments he treasured most.
Steven also enjoyed restoring classic cars and working with his hands in his garage workshop. Friends often joked that there was almost nothing Steven could not repair or improve with enough time and determination.

Steven G. Prebeck is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Elaine Prebeck; his loving children, Michael Prebeck and wife Jennifer Prebeck, Lisa Anderson and husband Daniel Anderson, and Ryan Prebeck and wife Emily Prebeck.
He was also a proud grandfather to Tyler, Olivia, Mason, Claire, Ethan, and Grace, all of whom brought tremendous happiness and purpose into his life. Steven treasured every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, whether teaching them practical skills, attending school activities, or simply sharing stories and laughter together.
He is additionally survived by his sister, Linda Carlson, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and former coworkers who will forever cherish his memory.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Prebeck.
To his family, Steven was the foundation of strength, love, and guidance that held everyone together. His wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering support will remain deeply missed but never forgotten.
Funeral Details
A celebration of life service honoring Steven G. Prebeck will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to local community outreach organizations or youth mentorship programs in Steven’s memory, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others and supporting future generations.
