Robert Michael Hamilton was born on September 14, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, to James and Eleanor Hamilton. Raised in a hardworking family that valued honesty and perseverance, Robert developed a strong sense of responsibility and compassion from an early age.
As a young man, Robert excelled academically and displayed natural leadership qualities. He graduated from Dayton Central High School in 1975 before attending Purdue University, where he earned a degree in business administration.
Following college, Robert built a successful career in the manufacturing and operations management industry. Over the course of more than forty years, he became widely respected for his professionalism, problem-solving skills, and dedication to excellence. Coworkers admired his ability to lead with fairness and patience, while younger employees often looked to him for mentorship and encouragement.
Robert approached every aspect of life with determination and humility. He believed success was not measured by achievements alone but by how one treated others along the way. His integrity and strong moral values earned him the trust and admiration of both colleagues and friends.
Outside of work, Robert found great joy in spending time with his family. He loved weekend road trips, backyard cookouts, attending sporting events, and gathering loved ones together during holidays and special occasions.
Robert also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and reading history books. He appreciated life’s simple moments and valued the importance of creating lasting memories with the people he cared about most.

Robert Michael Hamilton is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Elaine Hamilton; his loving children, Christopher Hamilton and wife Lauren Hamilton, Emily Carter and husband Jonathan Carter, and Daniel Hamilton and wife Rebecca Hamilton.
He was also a proud grandfather to Olivia, Mason, Claire, Ethan, Benjamin, and Grace, all of whom brought tremendous happiness and meaning into his life. Robert cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, whether attending their activities, sharing stories, or teaching valuable life lessons.
He is additionally survived by his sister, Patricia Reynolds, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, and lifelong friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eleanor Hamilton.
To his family, Robert was the steady source of wisdom, love, and encouragement who held everyone together through life’s joys and challenges. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Funeral Details
A celebration of life service honoring Robert Michael Hamilton will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to local youth mentorship programs or community outreach charities in Robert’s memory, reflecting his lifelong commitment to supporting and uplifting others.
