David graduated with honors from Cedar Rapids High School in 1970 before attending the University of Iowa, where he earned his undergraduate degree in biological sciences. He later completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree with distinction.

Following his residency training in internal medicine, Dr. Deets began a medical career that would span more than four decades. He practiced primarily in Madison, Wisconsin, where he became widely respected for his intelligence, humility, and patient-centered care.

Funeral Details

A celebration of life service honoring Dr. David K. Deets, MD will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Madison, Wisconsin. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.

A private burial ceremony will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
