Nathan Allen Durrett, 47, of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at his home and returned to the Lord surrounded by peace and faith.
He was born on February 2, 1979, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Lewis Durrett and Robin Earley. Nathan spent his life in the Louisville area and was known as someone who brought warmth and kindness into every room he entered.
Nathan worked as a dedicated employee at Ready Electric, where he was respected for his reliability, strong work ethic, and steady presence. He took pride in his work and was someone others could depend on, both professionally and personally.
Those who knew Nathan often say the same thing—he never met a stranger. He had a natural ability to talk to anyone and made people feel comfortable within minutes. His compassion showed not only in words, but in how he treated people with patience, understanding, and genuine care.
Faith played an important role in Nathan’s life. He spent much of his time growing in his relationship with God and seeking deeper understanding through his beliefs. His faith guided the way he lived and how he treated others every day.
In his free time, Nathan enjoyed bowling in a league, where he shared laughs, competition, and friendship with others. He was a lifelong University of Kentucky fan, though in recent years he developed a playful shift in loyalty and became an Alabama sports fan, something his family remembers with humor.
More than anything, Nathan valued being a father. He is survived by his three sons, Brendan Gritton, Tyler Durrett, and Jordan Durrett, who were the center of his life and pride.
He is also survived by his sister, Lindsey McCutcheon, and her husband Josh; his nephew Ayden Durrett; his parents Lewis Durrett and Robin Earley; and his beloved family dogs, Ally Bama and Bo Bo James, who were part of his daily life and companionship.
Nathan will be remembered as someone who lived with faith, kindness, and openness. His ability to connect with others, his steady heart, and his quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday after 11:00 a.m.
