Life & Career
Delevan “Del” Timmerman was born on September 21, 1949, in Brookings, South Dakota, to Harold and Margaret Timmerman. Raised in a hardworking farming family, Del learned the values of honesty, perseverance, and responsibility from an early age.
As a young man, Del developed a deep appreciation for agriculture, craftsmanship, and community service. He graduated from Brookings High School in 1967 and later attended a technical trade program focused on mechanical engineering and equipment maintenance.
Del spent much of his professional life working in agricultural equipment operations and repair. Over a career spanning more than forty years, he became highly respected throughout the region for his skill, dedication, and integrity. Farmers and coworkers alike trusted Del not only for his knowledge but also for the kindness and patience he showed to everyone he worked with.
Friends often described him as someone who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Del believed strongly in the value of community and was always willing to assist friends, neighbors, and strangers alike.
Outside of work, Del enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing trips with friends, early mornings outdoors, woodworking projects in his garage, and attending local sporting events with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed restoring antique farm equipment, a hobby that reflected both his craftsmanship and appreciation for history.

In 1972, Del married Patricia Ann Larson, the love of his life. Together they built a strong and loving family centered on faith, respect, and togetherness. Their marriage of fifty-four years was filled with shared memories, laughter, and unwavering support through every stage of life.

Delevan “Del” Timmerman is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Timmerman; his loving children, Michael Timmerman and wife Sarah Timmerman, Rebecca Olson and husband Daniel Olson, and Andrew Timmerman and wife Laura Timmerman.
He was also a proud grandfather to Jacob, Emily, Hannah, Lucas, Carter, and Grace, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Del cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, whether attending their school events, teaching them life lessons, or sharing stories from his younger years.
He is further survived by his brother, Ronald Timmerman, his sister, Elaine Peterson, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will deeply miss his kindness and guidance.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Timmerman.
To his family, Del was far more than a provider—he was the heart of every gathering, the voice of wisdom during difficult times, and the source of unconditional love that held everyone together.
Funeral Details
A celebration of life service honoring Delevan “Del” Timmerman will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Peaceful Prairie Memorial Cemetery.
The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to local agricultural youth programs or community outreach organizations in Del’s memory, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others and supporting future generations.
