Gary Robert (Jr.) Tracey Obituary
Gary Robert Tracey Jr., age 55 of Bakersville, North Carolina died Saturday, May 9, 2026 in Yancey County. Gary was born on February 3, 1971, in Zanesville, Ohio and is the son of Dennis and Brenda Williams Greene.
Gary will be remembered as a man who brought energy, laughter and life wherever he went. He had a deep love for animals and the outdoors. Whether he was out fishing or spending time in nature he felt at peace surrounded by the people and the things he loved. He was a true sportsman and loved the camaraderie and competition of golf and shooting pool. Gary also had a talent for building and creating. Above all else, he cared deeply for his family and steadily supported the ones he loved most.
Gary was preceded in death by his father Gary Robert Tracey Sr., his brother Michael James Tracey, his grandparents, Arvil and Edith Williams, his aunts Sue Weathers and Connie Dunn, and uncle Harley Williams and cousin Cindy Williams.
He is survived by his mother, Brenda Greene and step-father Dennis Greene, a sister Lori Ann Collins (Billy), step-sisters Denise Greene (Cliff) and Daphne Greene, step-brothers Dennis Greene (Margie) and Joe Greene, nephews Derek Johnson (Kailynn McKnight), Chris Greene (Amber), Cole Greene (Jessica), Josh Greene (Kylie), Shawn Greene (Keely), and Vincent Greene, nieces Brittany Johnson and Amanda Peyette (John), cousins Amy Black, Ricky Williams (Susan), John Paul Black, Ronnie Williams and Diane Pletcher, great-nephews Landon Johnson, Konnor Johnson, Bryson Johnson and Kayson Johnson, great-nieces, McKenzie Huggins and McKaylee Huggins.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock on Friday, May 15, 2026, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend John Cody officiating. Interment will follow Cool Springs Cemetery in Forest City. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 on Friday prior to the service at the mortuary.
