Caden Drew Metzger was born September 23, 2004, in Sioux Falls, SD the son of Matt and Emily (Peterson) Metzger. Caden grew up in the Sioux Falls area and graduated from Harrisburg High School in 2022. At a young age, Caden participated in hockey, soccer, T-ball, and football. In high school, he was an avid trap shooter with the Harrisburg High School Trap Team and the Issac Walton Youth League. After high school he worked for Win-Walker and Silverstar in Sioux Falls and later for Idlenot Farms. Most recently he worked for Tony Bosch Farms, his dream job. When Caden wasn’t working, you could have found him fishing for walleye at some secret location, hunting pheasants and deer at The Ranch with “the guys”, or road hunting asparagus (more secret locations). Caden found joy in planting and tending the Metzger family garden, a passion that grew into a thriving community of loyal customers. He took great pride in offering not just fresh produce, but a thoughtful, beautiful experience for everyone he served. His quick replies, warm spirit, and careful presentation made every delivery feel like a gift. He enjoyed raising chickens with his brother Maddox and cousin Brodie. His work ethics were one to be desired. Over the years he tagged some trophy deer, pheasants, turkeys, and caught some impressive fish. One of his prized 28-inch Walleye’s was “accidentally” filleted and eaten for dinner by his family, a memory they will never forget. Caden was an old soul with an infectious smile. He was never shy to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. This past Thursday morning Caden was called home to his Father in Heaven after a semi-truck accident at the young age of 21.

He is survived by his mother, Emily Peterson and her fiancé Chris Feldick of Sioux Falls, SD; his father, Matt and Kayla Metzger of Sioux Falls, SD; his brothers, Payton and Makaylee Metzger, Maddox Metzger, Charles and Damon Metzger all of Sioux Falls, SD; his maternal grandparents, Don and Penny Peterson of Garvin, MN and paternal grandparents, Ray and Kathy Metzger of Brandon, SD; his aunts and uncles, Monica and Brad Rilling of Sioux Falls, SD, Bryce and Jess Peterson of Garvin, MN, Kristi Metzger of Sioux Falls, SD, Rex and Erin Metzger of Beaver Creek, MN, Tyson and Jenna Metzger of Beaver Creek, MN; and his cousins, Briley and Cooper Rilling of Sioux Falls, SD, Lane, Soren, and Tait Peterson of Garvin, MN, Brodie, Briggs, and Brooks Metzger of Beaver Creek, MN, and Ellie, Finley, Briley, and Case Metzger of Beaver Creek, MN. And a four-legged hunting buddy, KC.
