DARBY, KIM ALANA BRYANT passed away unexpectedly October 6, 2012. Kim was born March 16, 1960 at University Hospital. Kim attended Miss Howards School for Girls and was a graduate of Huffman High School. While Kim lived the majority of her life in Birmingham, she had the opportunity to live in a variety of wonderful places. Most notably she lived in New Zealand, Atlanta, and Ft. Lauderdale. Kim loved travel and turned her passion into a fantastic career as a travel agent. For those who knew Kim, she had an unparalleled zest for life, and never met a stranger. This openness and love afforded her an enormous group of eclectic friends. Kim is survived by her mother, Alice Bryant, sister Teri Shell, nieces Christy and Jennifer Shell of Atlanta, GA, nephew Matthew Shell, serving in Afghanistan, and her beloved terrier mix, Bebe. Kim was preceded in death by her father, Alan Bryant. She also leaves behind many extended family members, and close friends who will forever be saddened by her loss. The family would like to extend their thanks for the heroic efforts of the NICU and Critical Care doctors at UAB.
