Kenneth N. Kinsley Obituary | April 24, 2026
Kenneth Norman Kinsley, age 91, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, passed away
peacefully on April 24, 2026 surrounded by his family and friends, leaving behind a
remarkable legacy of integrity, vision, humor and deep humanity.
Born in Milford, Massachusetts, Ken carried with him throughout his life the values of
hard work, humility, and quiet determination. He attended Hopedale High School in
Hopedale, MA and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
While living and working in metro Cleveland, OH, Ken met the love of his life, Carol.
After a whirlwind romance full of laughter and instant connection, they were engaged
within three months and married within six. 64 years later, their relationship was one for
the ages. Theirs was a true partnership which embodied loyalty, selflessness and joy
and laughter.
Ken realized Carol wasn’t going to be a corporate wife of the ‘60s and also knew himself
well enough to realize he needed to work for himself. In 1964, he founded Kinsley
Equipment Company, focusing on construction equipment distribution and service. What
began as a modest venture grew steadily under his leadership and foresight.
In the mid-1980s, anticipating changes in the marketplace, Ken made the bold decision
to pivot the company into emergency power generation, establishing Kinsley Power
Systems. Later, around 2010, the business diversified into broad brush energy solutions
under the heading The Kinsley Group.
For all his professional accomplishments, Ken is most remembered for the way he lived
and treated others. He was kind, funny, upright, and an exceptional listener. People
knew that when they were with Ken, he was fully present—that he genuinely cared. He
always had a good story to share, often delivered with warmth and humor, and he had a
rare gift for making others feel valued and uplifted.
Ken loved and respected people, and that respect was returned to him
universally—from family and friends to colleagues, customers, and suppliers. He had a
generous heart and a natural ability to connect. Many sought his counsel; others simply
enjoyed his company. In every circumstance, he brought a sense of ease, perspective,
and quiet wisdom. His “religion,” in many ways, was love—and he practiced it daily in
how he treated others.
Ken is survived by his wife, Carol; his children Kris (Pat) Kinsley Hancock and David
(Andrea) Kinsley; and his grandchildren Anastasia, Daisy and Nathaniel.
Ken’s passions extended well beyond his work. He was an avid golfer and tennis player
and enjoyed many years with the communities of Sankaty Golf and Tennis Club and the
‘Sconset Casino in Siasconset, Massachusetts, as well as the Longmeadow Country
Club and the Field Club of Longmeadow.
Ken was an avid reader, with a lifelong commitment to intellectual curiosity and personal
growth. He cherished the fellowship of groups such as the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men
Eating Out) and the Gladden Club of Springfield, where conversation, learning, and
camaraderie enriched his life.
More than anything, Ken loved time with family and friends. He took great joy in making
others laugh, lifting their spirits, and finding simple ways to help—whether through sage
counsel, a well-timed story, or a shared moment of humor.
