Lizabeth Metsch Obituary | April 29, 2026 | Enfield, CT
Lizabeth Ann Metsch, 73, of Ellington, beloved wife of Robert Metsch, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, on January 26, 1953, the daughter of the late Lee and Kathleen (Kennedy) Campion. Lizabeth had a deep love for her family and friends, and a genuine curiosity about the people in her life — whether lifelong companions or people she’d just met. She was thoughtful, incredibly generous, and known for her meaningful gift-giving. A natural host, she loved cooking and caring for those around her, always paying attention to the smallest details. She found joy in a handwritten note, a beautifully set table, and a thoughtfully planned menu for any occasion. She especially loved warm summer days, happiest in the sun, whether at the beach or by the pool with family and friends. There was hardly a summer day she wasn’t in the water. A proud and strong swimmer, she also taught many neighborhood children how to swim. Lizabeth was whip-smart, outspoken and endlessly funny. She could outtalk anyone in the room, and if you were lucky enough to sit beside her, you knew you were in for many laughs. Over the years, she navigated illness with a quiet strength that never fully dimmed her spirit. Above all, she loved her husband of 54 years, and her two children were truly her whole world. In addition to her husband Robert, Lizabeth is survived by her children, Christian Robert Metsch of Enfield, CT, and Courtney Campion Sweeton and her husband Tim of Portland, ME. She also leaves behind her brothers, Michael Campion and his wife Sue of Waterville, NY, Robert Campion and his wife Lorraine of West Hyannisport, MA, and Peter Campion of LaFeria, TX, and her stepmother, Bobbie Campion of Cicero, NY. Services will be held at a later date.
