John Michael Krawshuk, 68, of West Hartford, died on May 5, 2026, after an extended, courageous battle with cancer. John was born on November 18, 1957, at Hartford Hospital. A graduate of Northwest Catholic High School, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in information technology at Arizona State University. He spent 10 years in California working at Lawrence Livermore Lab before returning to Connecticut to be closer to family. John went on to receive a Master of Computer Science at Rensselaer Hartford, and a Master of Business Administration at the University of Connecticut, where he was inducted into the UCONN MBA Hall of Fame. He also received a Master of Accounting at the University of Hartford. John’s career included working for Yale University, Cigna, The Hartford, and later at the State of Connecticut Department of Labor, in the Fund Accounting department. While working at the Department of Labor, John was a member of the Administrative and Residual Union Local 4200, where he was honored to serve as Assistant Chief Steward. He was also involved in the Social Committee, the Professional Development Committee, and a member of the Executive Board. Just prior to his retirement, John served a 2nd Vice President and even had a conference room named in his honor. John was an active member of the St. Timothy’s Church community and served on the parish council.

John is predeceased by his loving parents, John Krawshuk and Martha Quagliano Krawshuk, both of West Hartford. He leaves behind two brothers, Martin A. Krawshuk of West Hartford, CT and Michael D. Krawshuk of Natick, MA. John also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Kimberly H. Krawshuk and his beloved niece and nephew, Ashley and Nathaniel Krawshuk, whom he loved beyond words.

Calling hours will be Monday, May 11, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. A funeral procession will assemble at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 12, at 9:15 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Timothy, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
