John J. Stecik, Jr., 73 of Verona, passed away peacefully at home on Friday May 8, 2026. He was the son of Joan (Angelo) Stecik and the late John J. Stecik, Sr. Beloved husband of 53 years to Jeannette V. (Altman). Loving father of J.J. (Heather) and Jason (Danielle). John was proud and honored to be the grandfather of Kiersten (Garrett), Brendan, Anna, Kayden, Brixton, and Rooney. Great-grandfather of Payton Hope and Lila Rose. Brother of Joseph (late Mary Jo), Cathy, Joannie (Gary), Michael (Mo), Steve, the late Jerry Stecik. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John’s life was all about family. He also loved basketball and was lovingly known as “Johnny Doom” to his basketball friends. John loved visiting Ocean City, Maryland in the summertime. Most of all his grandkids and great grandkids were the lights of his life and they will deeply miss him.
John will be buried at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park. A Celebration of Life will be announced.
