Kevin Thomas Trainor Obituary (1995–2026) | Massachusetts State Trooper

Kevin Thomas Trainor, 30, of Georgetown, formerly of Salem, passed away in the line of duty on May 6, 2026, while courageously responding to a wrong-way driver call as a member of the Massachusetts State Police. Trooper Trainor was pronounced deceased at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and fellow members of law enforcement who gathered to honor and support their fallen brother.

Born in Beverly, Massachusetts on July 29, 1995, Kevin was the cherished son of Barbara (Provencher) Trainor and the late David Leo Trainor Jr.

Raised in Salem, Kevin attended Salem Public Schools before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State University. From an early age, Kevin possessed a deep sense of loyalty, integrity, and compassion for others — qualities that would define both his personal life and professional career.

Kevin began his career in public service working at the Middleton Jail and house of correction, where he quickly earned the respect of both colleagues and supervisors for his professionalism and dedication. He later fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a Massachusetts State Trooper after graduating from the 88th Recruit Training Troop of the State Police Academy. Serving as a Trooper was more than a profession to Kevin — it was a calling. He took immense pride in protecting and serving the people of the Commonwealth and formed strong bonds with the men and women alongside whom he served.

Outside of his career, Kevin was known for his warm heart, quick wit, and ability to make those around him feel welcome and cared for. He loved spending time with family and friends, cooking on the grill, drawing, reading, and following baseball. Above all else, Kevin adored his beloved dogs, Rio and Java, who brought him endless joy and companionship.

Kevin shared a beautiful life with his fiancé, Jessica Ostrowski of Georgetown, whose love and support meant the world to him. Together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

In addition to his mother, Barbara, Kevin is survived by his fiancé, Jessica Ostrowski of Georgetown; his siblings, David L. Trainor III of Salem, Stephen Trainor and his wife Sophana of Lynn, Melissa Trainor of Salem, and Matthew Trainor of Salem; his nephews, Aiden, Jackson, and Harrison Trainor of Lynn; his paternal grandmother, Ann (Gerrish) Trainor of Peabody; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and thousands of men and women of the Massachusetts State Police.

Sadly, in addition to his father, Kevin was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, David L. Trainor Sr., and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Barbara (Cosentino) Provencher.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass celebrating Trooper Kevin Trainor’s life will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. James Church, 160 Federal St. Salem, MA. Kindly go directly to church. Details for Law Enforcement personnel wishing to attend will be announced by the Massachusetts State Police in the coming days.
